How is the star of david used, and what is the meaning behind it?

As the question shows,

What does the star of david represent?

What is the actual use of it? Is it used in certain ceremonies of the judaism religion/culture?

Thanks :)How is the star of david used, and what is the meaning behind it?The star of David is not used in any ceremonies. It has been adopted as the symbol for the Jewish people, because supposedly it was the heraldic emblem on the shield of King David.
It's use is merely decorative. It might be embroidered on a Torah mantle, or carved into the archway over the door of a synagogue. Within the past 100 years, Jews have begun to wear small stars of David in gold or silver on a neckchain, the way Christians wear a small cross.
As a symbol of Judaism, it appears to date to medieval times. The seven-branch menorah is a much more ancient Jewish identifier.

That's about it.How is the star of david used, and what is the meaning behind it?it is apparently a medieval Jewish protective amulets (segulot). One understanding is that the symbol represents the 12/13 months of the lunisolar calendar that keeps seasons synchronized with the lunar cycle, in distinction from the lunar calendar (common to the Islamic culture) in which seasons drift. The Jewish Encyclopedia cites a 12th-century Karaite document as the earliest Jewish literary source to mention the symbol. How is the star of david used, and what is the meaning behind it?mostly by ninjas
