What could you do to make the All Star game better?

I know that like myself, 90% of true NHL fans find the All Star game a joke. If you were hired as an All Stars game Executive Operations Manager, what would you do to make the All Star game more entertaining for TRUE fans?What could you do to make the All Star game better?Get rid of it. There's no competitiveness in the game, everyone is screwing around with each other. It's boring.



Example: Malkin and OV last year. That was one of the best rivalries in the east player vs player and that game ended it.What could you do to make the All Star game better?
Each fan can only vote once. No more stuffing the ballot box to make it Habs vs. Western Conference.



At the game they can actually enforce rules so that the entire game isn't just a giant shootout.



I would put in a lot of changes to the skills competition. The breakaway thing was a joke this year. Make that part about skill only. Not who can wear the funniest hats (Ovechkin).



I would take out the young stars game from the skills competition. It's just boring.



I would not change it to the winner getting home ice in the finals. That is not fair because teams work their butts off in the regular season to get the top seeds.What could you do to make the All Star game better?What If you mixed up and had a mesh of both the skills competition and the game... like lets say that if you get going a certain speed then you have automatic thermal blades activate and start going even faster... If your slap shot registers above 105 mph or what ever weird canadian equivalent to that speed... then you get to cash in your stick for a Titanium one with flex ridges so you can get it going even faster... lastly you could add the targets from the accuracy competition only if you can break one and get a the puck past the goalie then it triggers explosions that release both confetti fire and brass knuckles... and only the person that broke the target can use them! break all four and you can brass knuckles for your whole team!

Without being able to focus group my menu of ideas, herewith my entirely modest proposal:



1) Voting is weighted; fans get 1/5 of the vote, media get 1/5th, coaches get 1/5th, GM's get 1/5th, scouts get 1/5th. This makes the voting fiasco a thing of the past.

2) Make the CHL Propsect Game the curtain riser (the annual Cherry-Orr game). Give these deserving players a bigger window.

3) Teams are playing for a $3mm purse, winner take all. Divide that 21 ways, and that's a pretty decent piece of cake (little over $140K). I'm sure the league can find a couple sponsors to pony the dollars up. Have it stacked up so each team skates by it on the way out on the ice.

4) Each club of the winning conference gets $250,000 in extra salary cap space (cost to the league=0...can't see the NHLPA having a drama with this).

5) Keep current game format. Use a shootout if tied after 10min OT.

6) Eliminate "each team must have a representative" requirement save for host city/club.



Numbers 3 and 4 ensure competitiveness and will likely cut down on noshows.What could you do to make the All Star game better?The team from the winning conference gets home ice advantage in the cup finals AND the players MUST play competitively, they play no contact basically, fans want to see hitting, penalties, and fights, that's hockey, i understand you don't want your players getting hurt in a game that means nothing, but isn't that part of the game? sure you don't want to have your guys get hurt but it happens, i say boycott the allstar game until they make it better. I also wouldn't send top NHLers to the Olympics... as most of them make up team Canada giving them the edge, i think the players who play the world juniors should be the ones in the olympics to make the olympic tournament fair to all the teams and have the NHLers play the allstar game for home ice... what am i supposed to do during the 17 days the flyers don't play!? its stupid.
Have the game mean something. To me the All Star game is pointless and it's a huge injury risk to the players. Maybe if they gave out some trophy or reward (like butterfingers or kitkats).What could you do to make the All Star game better?
Well, I dont like the ASG... but to make it more of the players who deserve it THAT SEASON.... no fan votes! Only GMs, players, owners can vote in players that are deserving. Thats right, not even sportswriters can vote.

Have the Cup winner play an All-Star team in their home arena. It used to be done that way and the game meant something to the home fans.
The winter classic game should be the All Star game.
North America vs the World
give one player on each side a gun, but keep it a secret who it is. that would be awesome.
Winner gets home ice advantage in the stanley cup finals. Just like the MLB does it.
