I watch Star Wars again and I must say it was quite irritating.
I love the story the first viewing but the second viewing it was kind of bad.
The CGI was irritating and the unaltered version was dated. I mean really dated. How high is your Orginal Star Wars Trilogy replay value by rating?Still watch them and still like them, but there are a few instances were I felt a bit like you do on this matter. Though the "special edition" versions of the original trilogy added some nice details and touch-ups, I still think they could have done a much better job and that's what actually annoys me about the "special editions"... that they only "fixed" some of the stuff. Though I love Star Wars and grew up on the original trilogy, the changes I definately outright hated were:
*The cantina scene in EP4 changed to Greedo shooting first instead of Han.
*The new CGI wampa in the cave scene in EP5 did not mesh with the original cuts they still kept in... they should have left the cave scene alone and actually done the deleted scene where Wampa's get into Echo base and attack the Tauntauns.
*The new "hollywood happy ending" in EP6 where everyone all over the galaxy is shown cheering after the Rebel victory at Endor... so unrealistic and cheesy.
I need to get the original unaltered version. I don't care if they look "dated" I want to see the originals again. I've gotten so used to watching the "newer" special edition versions that I've forgotten what the movies were really like when they first came out. I think seeing them again in their original unaltered version would help bring back those happy fun childhood memories of watching the movies and playing with the original Kenner-line Star Wars toys.
I prefer to let slide what I don't like about the Star Wars movies and focus on the memories, fun, creativity, imagination, and feelings that they instill.
