Hester means 'star' so how does that tie into Hester in the Scarlet Letter?
Textual evidence if possible ?How is Hester a star in the Scarlet Letter?Hester is the star in the Scarlet letter since she is the main character, the lead role in the story. Without her, there is no place for the scarlet letter (placed in Hester's chest). Symbolically, it seems that Hester have become the guiding STAR in the end because she have become a good role model, a person honestly repenting in that Puritan Culture she is in.

Look at the letter A - it goes from meaning adulteress to able to angel. She does good works and shines bright.
