When was the last time the Marlins made a really big move to acquire an All-Star player?

Seems like they mostly grow All-Stars in their farm system and trade them away after they win something. Then they keep on coming from their own system. I know they've traded for some decent players before, and probably "rented" some really good players for a stretch run. But who are some All-Star caliber players that came from another system to the Marlins and actually stayed there? When was the last time the Marlins made a really big move to acquire an All-Star player?Signed Carlos Delgado in January 2005.

Drafted Dan Uggla out of the Arizona system in December 2005. He was getting long in the tooth but clearly could hit, and it's worked out pretty well.

Signed Luis Gonzalez in February 2008. He didn't have much left, but made for a decent platoon outfielder.

Ramirez has been the franchise gemstone for the past few years, but when he was acquired, he was a hot prospect -- highly promising, but far from being a superstar.

Delgado, I'd say. When was the last time the Marlins made a really big move to acquire an All-Star player?
I cant recall the Marlins ever aquiring someone big at the break...usually they are shipping guys away at this time!

Add on: The closest I can think of was Hanaly Ramirez, but they only got him because they gave up Beckett, so you make the call! When was the last time the Marlins made a really big move to acquire an All-Star player?Traded Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell for Hanley Ramirez. I hope i see him in a sox uni soon. GO SOX!When was the last time the Marlins made a really big move to acquire an All-Star player?
Hanley Ramirez was acquired in the Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell trade from Boston.Cameron Maybin was acquired from the Tigers in the Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis deal.Jorge Cantu was aquired from the Reds for minor leaguers. Those are the real talent they have acquired. When was the last time the Marlins made a really big move to acquire an All-Star player? The last time they made a BIG move was when they went after Mike Piazza. Granted they have made other moves, but the Piazza move was definitely the big one. They did trade him a week later though.

Good question!
